World Editor WED 2.0

  • Beim WED hat sich einiges getan und für Szeneriebastler ist es lohnend, auf die neue Version umzusteigen.
Allerdings ist sie noch im Betastadium.

    WED 2.0 features

Automatic background maps: OpenStreetmap, 1m ESRI Orthoimagery
New overlay layer: Navaid and Airport ID locator
    Improved Orthophoto import
    User adjustable text size
More information in opening & gateway import dialogs
    Runway suffixes S, T and W

Beside this there are a number of less news-worthy enhancements:

    Features:
    - don't write apt.dat if there are no airports for it - rather delete it
    - XST-69: include distance signs and approach lights in runway preview
    - make CTRL-Click toggle (most) item's selection status, just as CRTL-Drag does
    - WED-1064: distinguish the "locked" icon by a touch of red color
    - WED-916: Support user specified text size

    - XSG-6494: Show Gateway Checkout Info in Gateway Import Dialog
    - display code cleanup - redraws map 2x to 3x faster
    - WED-1115: KEDW exemption for airport size
    - toughen language used in apt.dat import warning to increase effectiveness
    - improve error reporting and 'marginal' path handling in orthophoto im/export
    - leave exportTarget = "Gateway" after gateway export failed for validation errors
    - WED-1029: New flavor of duplicate command to support Julians LEGO 'modules'
    - WED-1105: Gateway Moderator mode improvements. So Julian can find your little sins faster.
    - show more particular pictograms for the new in XP11.25 wide yellow line types
    - WED-939: Warn about "silly" large ramp starts at airports with way to small runways

    Bug Fixes:
    - fix incorrect line style stipples, add stipples for new XP 11.25 linetypes
    - WED-271: fix PropertyPane not showing all available Columns upon startup
    - WED-1123: Prevent Custom Libs from elevating visibilities of LR default lib items
    - fix very large ortho images, exceeding the GPU's max texture size, from displaying
    - fix WED-1116: fix undesired selection of ALL items in TAXI/Light views
    - CIFP validation to use ICAO code meta tag if available
    - fix missing symbolic light styles when drawing certain of the new XP11.25 line styles
    - WED-1111: Fix date shown at gateway import scenery version selection
    - WED-1110: fix gateway export failing under windows with "Error 400 invalid parameter"

    - WED-1080: Prevent crash when importing invalid data from gateway
    - WED-1075: Fix crash on export by validating for bad/illegal UV map coordinates

Das hat Laminar gut gemacht, damit wird eigentlich der wedomaker überflüssig.
Könnte denen ein Kartönchen Knöterich zukommen lassen.

    Cheers and a3g,

  • WED 2.0r1 jetzt erhältlich

The official release candidate for WED 2.0 is now available at

    https://developer.x-plane.com/tools/worldeditor/

This version is the successor of WED 1.7.2. For those that are now confused - wasn't there some WED 1.8 ? Yes, but Ben suggested we crammed so many new features in there - it deserves a number that reflects that. So WED 2.0 it is.

WED 2.0 is a 64bit application on all platforms, new minimum system requirements are Windows 7/10, OSX 10.9 or Linux with GLIBC 2.23
